Chiraagh Vocational Training School

Chiraagh Vocational Training School (CVTS) is a vocational training center located in Basti Dhup Sari, a small village near Multan. It was inaugurated in October 2020 with the vision to empower women through stitching courses, adult/functional literacy programs and digital literacy initiatives. Two batches of students have graduated from the school as of today who are contributing a great deal to their families’ finances.

CVTS currently comprises of a basic stitching unit, a computer lab, a gaming room, an advanced stitching unit and a library. Students go through a predefined routine to keep them engaged and at par with this evolving digital world.

Girah is an apparel brand launched by students at Chiraagh Vocational Training school in July 2021. It provides a platform for the CVTS graduates and enrolled students to showcase their stitching talent as well as preserve the dying art of Multani Embroidery. Girah is an Urdu word which literally means a “Knot“. It symbolizes the pulling and tying of two threads together by which we mean bridging the socio-economic gap.

Girah has launched several clothing, masks, PJ suits and shirts collections so far with all the revenue flowing back to the hands behind the magic, i.e. our students at CVTS. Girah aspires to make CVTS a self sustainable project as well as be a major source of income for the students and the community.

ILM ka Chiraagh is an educational fundraising project. By channeling the power of social media, our team collects funds to meet the educational expense of the students hailing from the lower income strata of Pakistan.

The basic ideology behind ILM ka Chiraagh is to provide access to the quality education and reduce educational inequity. We do so by removing financial constraints which are the leading cause of high drop-out rate in Pakistan. Chiraagh is currently raising funds for the students enrolled in universities, colleges and schools on monthly as well as one-time fundraising basis through this project.

Interpersonal Skills Development Program was the first project initiated by Chiraagh in November 2016. This project aims to develop the interpersonal skills of the students enrolled in public and low-cost private educational institutes.  Our founding team, who were mostly enrolled at LUMS realized a massive difference in the communication and interpersonal skills of the students hailing from different economic backgrounds.

Our team shortlists a public or low-income private school and designs a customized set of activities and workshops for its students. These workshops are conducted with the same set of students for six weeks and their progress is observed along with sharing the feedback with them.  We have conducted these workshops in more than 20 educational institutes in Lahore, Sargodha and Multan catering more than 800 students so far. Our aim is to bring these students at par with the students of leading educational institutes.
